The Delany Garden

Lesson Description:
In this lesson, students create, design, and plant a flower garden using the flowers in the book on my own at 107. This lesson is best suited for 6th-8th graders and adheres to national science, computer/technology skills, language arts, mathematics, and visual art standards.

    • competency goal 1: the learner will build an understanding of the lithosphere.
  • computer/technology skills; grades 6 – 8
    • competency goal 3: the learner will use a variety of technologies to access, analyze, interpret, synthesize, apply, and communicate information.
  • language arts; grades 6 - 8
    • competency goal 2: the learner will synthesize and us information from a variety of sources.
  • mathematics; grades 6 – 8
    • competency goal 2: the learner will demonstrate an understanding and use of the properties and relationships in geometry, and standard units of metric and customary measurement.
  • visual art; grades 6 – 8
    • competency goal 1: the learner will develop critical and creative thinking skills and perceptual awareness necessary for understanding and producing art.
