Garden Charades
Gardening tasks and vocabulary will be reviewed in this activity. Kids will act out selected garden terms. Their teammates will guess the word acted out to earn points for their team.
Procedures:
Preparation
- Gather three to four inch scraps of paper. on each piece of paper, write down a garden term such as: sprouts, watering, harvesting, pollinating, weeding, blooming, raking, growing, planting, etc.
- Once finished, fold each paper in half and then in half again. place them in a container such as a bowl, basket of hat and mix them up.
Garden Charades
- Review garden terms, if necessary.
- Split the group into two teams. their goal is to act out their chosen word and have their team try and guess what the word is. for each correct answer, their team gets one point.
- Choose one person from one team to begin and have them select a piece of paper from the container.
- Once the student is ready, they have to act out the word they chose. their team gets one minute to try and guess. Have someone be the timer. if they don’t have a guess or make an incorrect guess, the other team gets a chance to guess and earn the point.
- Then choose a person from the other team to take a turn and follow the same procedures.
- Continue until all the words have been selected.
- Once finished, add up the points to reveal the winning team.
