Big Gift to the Earth Conservation program

Lesson Description:

The Big Gift to the Earth kit consists of an Acts of Care for the Earth 2014 calendar, and a set of 25 "Happy Sock" coin collecting guides. The program focuses on each child performing acts of care at home and in their community and collecting loose change for these small actions. The students store their change in a single sock and bring it to a Coinstar kiosk in their local grocery stores. (full details enclosed in kit)

This program empowers young students to become engaged with their immediate natural environment and also connects them to the value of contributing to protect the commons (the rainforest in Peru). Earth's Birthday provides educational rewards after Earth Day April 22, 2014, for participating students and classrooms.
