200 winners will receive enrollment in online course, Sustainability Concepts, a $500 value

April 4, 2012 – In honor of Earth Month, GEF Institute is hosting a Facebook contest in which 200 winners will receive free enrollment in their online course, Sustainability Concepts. The course is valued at $500 and is eligible for 1.5 CEUs or 1 undergraduate or graduate credit. Sustainability Concepts is a 15 hour, online, self-paced course designed to equip students and adults with a strong foundational knowledge of sustainability, the science and technology of promoting sustainability, and the balance between environmental, social, and economic concerns. The materials provide students with a thorough introduction to sustainability topics such as ecosystems, energy and water challenges, life-cycle analysis, and climate change science. The course incorporates hands-on audits, online modules, nationwide discussion forums, and dynamic instruction methods. GEF Institute also offers certifications to encourage and motivate individuals to take steps toward sustainability literacy and action. In this critical field of study, all levels of expertise must be acknowledged as an achievement, and then built upon. While working toward any level of certification, participants become engaged with important topics in sustainability through real world examples, interactive activities, and dynamic instruction. The goal of the certifications is to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary for success in the higher education or the workplace.
