Sustainability Lesson Clearinghouse
Idle Off
Lesson Description:
The lesson's purpose is to help students better understand the environmental impact of leaving an engine idling. Students will sort out myth from truth on the topic of engine idling and compare and create guidelines for when to turn engine motors off.
With small groups or a large class discussion, using the provided myth cards students will read the card and decide if they believe it to be true or false. The lesson also provides a reading to go along with the cards and then a follow-up homework survey activity to further students' understanding to better relate it to their own lives.
