Lesson Description:
In this lesson, middle school aged students will recognize the limits of non-renewable energy sources. They will also explore the significance of the large share of the world's energy used by industrialized countries.
The second activity of the lesson intends to increase awareness that people on different countries use vastly different proportions of the world's energy. Also, students should understand what portion of energy i sused for transportation purposes.
The first portion of the lesson works best as a large group (entire class) activity or project, and then followed up by discussion. The second lesson may take more time and is best done in small groups and then either still in groups or individually the students should answer the follow up questions using their graphs.
