2017 Challenge Winners
Congratulations to the students at The Steward School, Richmond, VA, for winning the 2017Green Thumb Challenge grant!
The Shyla Ipsen Memorial Gardens at The Steward School grows vegetables, herbs and staple crops throughout all four seasons. They started in 2013 and now have 36 raised beds on the grounds of our school. Over the course of 4 years they have donated more than 4000 pounds of vegetables to FeedMore, meals on wheels and local homeless shelters. The Steward School champions the fact that students who engage early with growing and eating fresh vegetables are investing in health and wellness for life.
